General Description
The GPS Product Owner Asia is a member of Global Product and Services Platform Transformation Team and shall endeavour to fulfil the ambitions defined and outlined for the team by Head of Product Platform.
As Product Owner, you shall collaborate closely with product managers, business owners and technical teams to understand client requirements and evolving market dynamics. The role involves shaping and driving the product vision for our structured products & derivatives platforms, with full end-to-end ownership across the product lifecycle. As core aspect of the role, he/she shall understand the business cases and define clear, value driven product features in close partnership with key stakeholders, understand and document all requirements from both manufacturing and distribution perspectives, managing the front-to-back product implementation, testing and lifecycle from conception through release, all whilst ensuring maximum value with minimum waste. He / she would continue to own variations / features for the product on an ongoing basis by proactively researching and analysing the market, users, and latest trends in the industry to constantly evolve each product roadmap accordingly.
The Product Owner is welcome to have regular dialogues with various Front representatives and Senior Management to be kept abreast of client needs/demands. This will help to ensure that products and services offered to clients remain relevant and competitive. The incumbent shall also build highly effective relationships across the Bank to maintain and improve knowledge of the business and its latest products and services to optimise service to clients.
The Product Owner Asia reports to Head of Products Platform Zurich.
Key Features And Accountabilities
People Management
- Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment
- Motivate and share feedback to other team members to improve overall performance
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with product managers and business owners to understand client and market needs, evolving the product roadmap in line with overall bank’s strategy and enable growth opportunities
- Develop cases and define product features based on inputs from business owner and business representative
- Continuously prioritise feature/story with business owners based on business cases and implementation costs
- Understand the system implications of the new product and identify roadblocks and dependencies with other features
- Provide direction to agile teams to ensure work focuses on items with maximum value aligned with the overall product strategy
- Ensure regular and effective communication and consultation with relevant stakeholders throughout the various stages of the product life cycle
- Regularly consult with Front representatives and Senior Management to be kept updated of clients’ needs/demands and take appropriate measures to fulfil them, where relevant
Product Management
- Understand the front to back flow of product issuance
- Work with various risk functions to identify, assess and mitigate potential risks associated with the new product
- Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders (i.e. IT, accounting, operation, risk teams) to understand the system implications of the new product. Specify requirements, identify and resolve roadblocks
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to new product implementation
- Participate in testing and quality assurance process, create testing protocol, document testing results and collect signoff of test cases
- Ensure the new product is operational ready for distribution (i.e. client & product suitability checks)
- Continuously evaluate and improve the process, identifying areas for efficiency gains and implementing best practices.
Regulatory Responsibilities &/OR Risk Management
- Meet all legal, regulatory and compliance standards/requirements while implementing products
- Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Professional And Technical
- Relevant higher educational and professional background with 8-10 years of relevant working experience in the financial industry
- Good knowledge of financial products, in particular cross asset structured products and derivatives, especially the manufacturing flow of such products
- Experience in Advisory and Sales processes, for both private clients and institutional clients
- Experience in agile project methodologies and framework (e.g. SAFe, scrum, Kanban)
- Experience in managing product deliveries across work streams with varying timelines, priorities, complexities
- Strong ability to deal with ambiguity, especially when dealing with new products where pilot launches might require some manual processes to start with
- Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and broad understanding of the financial market and products
- IT savvy and can facilitate basic programming or quickly understand IT landscape of process and systems
- Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills
