Motor Vehicle Operator II (Driver) - 2nd shift - (25005769)

Description

 

University of Iowa Health Care department of Material Services is seeking a full-time Motor Vehicle Operator II to properly and safely transport mobile case carts containing surgical instruments back and forth between off-site sterilization location and main campus, University of Iowa Health Care. This position will be scheduled Monday-Friday, 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Duties To Include:

  • Loads and unloads case carts.
  • Secures carts using nylon to prevent damage.
  • Communication of location and delivery status using hospital supplied cell phone both audio and text.
  • Drive a straight truck, with air brakes and automatic transmission, with a GVWR of 26,000 lbs. or less.
  • Operate a mechanical rear liftgate.
  • Operate loading dock doors and dock levelers.
  • Services vehicles, both interior and exterior, including cleaning and washing with power equipment, refueling and other minor items of vehicle maintenance as required.
  • Performs as a warehouse worker when not driving.

Our four areas are: Processed Stores, Mail Services, Uniform Shop and Linen Services.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • One year experience driving straight trucks.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, in good standing, equivalent to or greater than an Iowa Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement 2 (and ability to meet UI Fleeet Safety Standards).

Desirable Qualifications

  • At least 6 months experience working in a warehouse receiving, storing, picking, and shipping supplies.
  • At least 6 months experience inputting warehouse transactions into computer-based inventory tracking systems both manually and using scanners.
