We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometrist to join the Retina Division in Westwood. This position involves delivering exceptional patient care while collaborating with a dynamic clinical team in a high-volume setting. Perform imaging and comprehensive optometric examinations
- Provide patient education through written and verbal communication, addressing questions about surgical options, lens choices, treatments, medication, etc.
- Participate in the identification and recruitment of patients who are eligible for participation in clinical trials
- Assist with postoperative care of cataract and glaucoma patients
- Write prescriptions for glasses and authorize medication refills
Salary Range: $85,900-128,900
This position may be required to travel to other UCLA Health locations based on operational needs.

Required:
- Possession and maintenance of an active license to practice optometry from the California Board of Optometry.
- Applied understanding of general and complex principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills including knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology to establish effective working relations with all levels of university staff, faculty, trainees, and patients.
- Ability to work in a cooperative and collegial fashion with other members of the Division to provide exemplary patient care.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under a variable but often busy workload.
- Ability to function in a research environment with patients who are enrolled in clinical study protocols.
- Ability to learn new routines quickly, to follow routines consistently, and identify better ways of accomplishing routine tasks.
- Demonstrated or acquired competency in office and medical center-based data and electronic records systems (Epic CareConnect, including Kaleidoscope, PCIMS, CDS; image viewing environment e.g., AXIS etc.)
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality with the staff, faculty, and patients.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and multitasking ability.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to elderly patients of diverse backgrounds.
