Are you a recent RN grad looking to transition from the world of academia into practice?  Are you looking for a program that will support you as you begin a career in an acute care setting?  Are you passionate about serving your community?  If so, Adventist Health Portland's New Grad RN Residency program is calling your name.  

  • This posting is for new grad RN seats with our ED, MICU & CVU units.  Opportunities offered will be determined by the unit's need and may vary by cohort.
  • Please upload a resume to your application that includes all of your clinical rotations and GPA.
  • All shifts are 12-hours, and all schedules include some weekends and holidays.
  • The base ROP for this position is $54.00PH (all applicable differentials are in addition to this wage)
  • All roles are a .9FTE offering a comprehensive benefit package.  
  • Your RN license must be active the week prior to the cohort start date (see below).
  • As a New RN in our residency program, you will have a dedicated RN on the unit to assist you with your training and orientation, monthly meetings with your cohort and Clinical Education team and a 12-month program supporting you in your first role as an RN.     

This Cohort will start on March 16, 2026.

Interviews to be conducted in early December 2025.  Local candidates will be schedules for on-site interviews, while a virtual option will be provided for those applicants that reside out of the area and are unable to travel for the interview.

Job Summary:

Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.

Job Requirements:

Education And Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN): Preferred
  • Senior Practicum completed in the desired specialty unit: preferred
  • New Grad RN with less than 6 months of experience working as a nurse.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Oregon: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Additional certifications may be required for specialty units.

Essential Functions:

  • Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes. Implements the plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Identifies outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation.
  • Collaborates with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment. Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members; and directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
  • Participates in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
