The Location: Tokyo, Japan  

Serves as a thought leader for the Energy industry in Japan, & focused on industry  led sales at Microsoft. Serves as the Energy Industry subject matter expert in digital & AI transformation with specific emphasis on the Power Utility Industry in Japan and focused on the Japanese EPCOs & special initiatives involving the Power Utility industry. Acts as an Japanese industry thought leader to executive-level customer business decision makers. Identifies customer business needs, opportunities, challenges & aspirations & works with the Microsoft cross functional team/s in Japan & globally to land the right value propositions. Provides guidance the the customer facing account team/s from an industry perspective during early stages of opportunity engagements. Engages with senior customer decision makers to nurture new business opportunities to bring innovative ideas addressing such customer needs to fruition via internal cross functional teams at Microsoft and the Microsoft partner ecosystem. Generates demand via discovery & envisioning workshops & has the ability to demonstrate industry thought leadership via marquee industry events, presentations, panel discussions and key notes. Serves as industry communicator to translate industry knowledge for the account management team. Finally, serves as the Energy industry leader for Japan and focused on revenue growth across the sector (both Power Utilities & Oil + Gas  industry) at a rate that is faster than the overall market growth. 

Responsibilities

  • Build robust industry sector revenue growth that results in significant year on year revenue growth, based on a line of business (LOB) led sales pipeline. This, to augment the efforts of the Microsoft account team and the solutions team. 
  • Build a sales pipeline in working closely with Microsoft’s partners (both systems integrators, & business application providers (ISVs) 
  • Drive AI led design wins that land tangible outcomes for customers 
  • Drive Microsoft copilot sales & adoption via line of business (LOB) scenarios 
  • A team player that adds value to Microsoft’s customers and the Microsoft account & solution teams  
  • Ability to leverage subject matter expertise to thread the needle that ties in addressing our customers challenges, opportunities and/or aspirations with all the available & relevant Microsoft tools (including AI) and Tech, while actively leveraging Microsoft’s formidable partner ecosystem in the Energy sector to deliver tangible outcomes for our customers, & in doing so – for Microsoft.

Qualifications

  • 10 + years of experience in having worked at or with the Power sector & an understanding of how digital technology applied to the power sector. Any consulting/ advisory experience is welcome. 
  • BA/BS or MS Degree in Power systems, Information systems, management, sustainability or equivalent experience. 
  • Understanding of the Power Utilities – generation, transmission & distribution & power retail & trading value Chain 
  • Experience in of having worked in complex projects and engagements involving Cloud technologies, Data & AI solving specific Power Utilities industry challenges 
  • Native Japanese speakers preferred with proficiency in spoken and written English.
