Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Pre-employment physical exam required. Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by the University's insurance carrier. Kentucky applicator's license to handle pesticides. May be required to be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May need to work nights, weekends, holidays or during winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions. Grade 1 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The University of Louisville Golf Club (ULGC), located in Simpsonville, KY, is seeking to hire a Groundskeeper I. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the turf and overall playability of the golf course. You will be required to operate large equipment, including mowers, tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other maintenance equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Mow fairways, roughs, greens, and tees.
  • Operate equipment such as turf vacuums, skip-loaders, aerifiers, and sprayers.
  • Ensure the equipment's cooling system is functioning at all times; refill fuel and oil daily; clean equipment daily; and report any equipment problems or failures to the Equipment Mechanic immediately.
  • Maintain equipment, including basic preventative maintenance as directed by the Equipment Mechanic or Senior Assistant Superintendent, and return equipment to the designated location.
  • Perform basic watering techniques.
  • Maintain Bunkers.

  • Assist with course setup.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Senior Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the safe and efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment; mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills, including both verbal and written.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
