In this role, you'll:

You will provide solutions-focussed independent legal advice to support the achievement of organisational outcomes, minimise legal risk and deliver on our commitment to our customers, the people of NSW.
 
On a day-to-day basis, you will advise and provide high quality; high value, timely and solutions-focused legal services and independent advice.     Legal practice areas will be one or more of commercial, construction, property and planning, contracts, liability, regulatory, administrative, privacy, employment and criminal law.

This position reports to the Dir Legal Commercial Tech Prop within secretary services – Public Transport and is part of the Commercial, Technology and Property team in Transport’s Legal and Governance branch.

With close to 100 lawyers spread across 4 legal teams, we are one of the largest inhouse government legal departments in NSW.

This fixed term position is hybrid-friendly, meaning you can mix in-person days at your team’s home base location in the Sydney CBD with remote days

About you

- You are a commercial and/or technology lawyer with advanced written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical legal concepts clearly and succinctly.
 
- You  have knowledge of and experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial or technology contracts and managing legal disputes.

- You model the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct and have the ability to communicate with and influence others effectively.

- You have a track record providing timely and considered advice and have the ability to collaborate with a range of professionals from legal and non-legal backgrounds, bringing others with you on the journey to share knowledge and raise capability across the business.

- You have a tertiary qualification in law and hold a practising certificate in NSW.
