Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.
Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several unique sites across San Francisco.

What You'Ll Do:
Under the guidance of the Program Director, the Associate Director of Employment oversees the development, implementation, and day-to-day operations of the employment department. In today’s rapidly evolving job market, adaptability and equitable access are essential to success. In this role, you’ll lead programs that help clients build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive in the workforce of today and tomorrow. You’ll cultivate partnerships with employers, training providers, and community organizations to expand pathways to quality employment, and strengthen program accessibility to reflect the flexibility of modern life. Whether you’re preparing clients to compete in high-demand industries, connecting them to meaningful career opportunities, or ensuring our services meet them where they are, your work will play a vital role in promoting economic stability and long-term growth.
This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight to Larkin Street Academy Employment programs.
- Development and implementation of program services, including curriculum-building.
- Ensure compliance with grants and budgets and agency outcomes, including acting as a lead for program audits.
- Provide overall support throughout Larkin Street Academy and Larkin Street Youth Services.
- Lead in the hiring and training of Larkin Street Academy staff.
- Conduct regular check-ins with direct reports, including coaching, and monitor progress.
- Attend and participate in all agency management meetings and represent Larkin Street Youth Services at community/partner meetings and activities as needed.
- Fulfill reporting requirements as designated by Larkin Street Academy programs.
- Supervise staff in collaboration with management team of Larkin Street Academy.
- Active outreach and development of externships and partnerships for the Employment Programs.
- Tracking and synthesizing data on employment partnerships; evaluation of effectiveness of collaborations and partners via MOU’s, Microsoft Excel Database, and Microsoft Teams.
- Supporting in the drafting, analysis, and construction of new or existing grant opportunities for the workforce department.
- Promoting client outcomes across the agency and developing systems of marketing strengthen partnerships.
- Support in coordinating Restorative Community practices for the department.
- Hold On-Call manager responsibilities as assigned and scheduled in rotation.
Who You Are:
- You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
- You have Case Management experience with Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds, similar to the client base at Larkin Street Youth Services.
- You have experience in direct-service roles in drop-in centers, shelters, transitional, and/or permanent supportive housing programs.
- You have previous experience in leadership roles.
- You are a self-starter and team player. Your colleagues describe you as compassionate, collaborative, and organized.
- You work best in a hybrid working environment, working from home for 1 day per week.
- You are willing to serve as an After Hours On-Call Supervisor for 7 days, every 6-8 weeks.
- You are willing to work holidays occasionally.
- You are vaccinated against COVID 19.
