Job Description

Human Resources Manager leads all HR operations within the manufacturing facility. Responsible for driving workforce effectiveness, ensuring employment law and policy compliance and fostering a positive employee experience. Develop and implement the human resources strategy, programs, and systems within the operation’s budgets and objectives, aimed at leveraging individual and group contributions in the organization.  This hands-on position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

    Responsibilities:
•    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., OSHA, FMLA, ADA)
•    Responsible for understanding and communicating company benefits including facilitation of annual information meetings for open enrollment.
•    Be the SME for all benefits and policy questions.
•    Manage HRIS, using Workday, for recruitment, payroll changes, terminations, etc.
•    Support employees in accessing their profile in Workday and accurately make necessary changes and updates to their personal information.
•    Manage and communicate information related to FMLA, STD and LTD claims.
•    Consistently interact with employees regarding benefits, compensation, training and development needs.
•    Acts as a facilitator for conflict resolution issues, coaches and guides employees facing personal and professional challenging situations.
•    Manage the Human Resources Department by providing strategy, vision, direction, and guidance.  Maintain scheduling of work and assigning tasks, evaluating, coaching and counseling of employees

•    Track hourly performance management, notify leadership regarding upcoming annual reviews, gather all necessary documentation for recommended step progression increases to ensure a pay for performance practice is managed consistently to maintain a compensation matrix to retain and motivate employees.   
•    Establish recruiting methods to ensure the highest-level competency of personnel. 
•    Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth integration.
•    Identify, design and facilitate training and development opportunities.
•    Understand and communicate ISO 9001-2000, ISO 14001 and OSAS 45001 standards as it relates to the Human Resources Department.  
•    Participate in continuous improvement efforts intended to add value and to promote customer satisfaction and coworker engagement.
•    Participate as an active member of the management team, assisting to plan, strategize,  evaluate and improve overall plant performance.
•    Any and all other assignments as required.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of HR management experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong HR acumen, leadership skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams in an industrial environment 
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Workday
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands handle, finger, or feel; talk or hear, and taste or smell.  The employee frequently is required to stand, sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.  Must be able to travel domestically.
