Overview Of Duties:

AHRI is looking for eight (8) clinical research assistants who will be based at King Cetshwayo and North uMkhanyakude Districts for the ATTIS study. The successful candidates will work in the communities in King Cetshwayo (Umfolozi and Umhlathuze sub-district) or North uMkhanyakude Districts doing community household TB screening. The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for the implementation of the study protocols. They will be the first point of contact with potential study participants within the community. The successful candidates will be expected to follow procedures according to study protocols and to provide high quality clinical support to participants and other clients. The role may require incumbent to work outside of normal hours, Public Holidays & Weekend as and when required by the study especially for follow-ups of the study participants.

Overview Of Duties

  • Implement the ATTIS protocol.
  • Recruit participants from the community and refer them to the clinic when needed and follow on initiation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with DOH staff where participants will be recruited.
  • Collection and capture of data.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by Line Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Senior certificate (Grade 12).
  • Computer Literacy Certification (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Must Possess a valid South African Code C1 driver’s license (will be required to take PDP driver’s license test).
  • Resident and a member of a homestead from within the King Cetshwayo District (preferred).

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum 2-year research experience in a clinical setting (community, hospital/clinic-based research).

Skills Required

  • Basic counselling and interviewing skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and isiZulu.
  • Knowledge of and experience in TB treatment and care.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, flexible and a good team player.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Well organized and possession of the ability to plan effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
