About This Opportunity
Join our team as the Clinical Research & Operations Manager for the Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre (QCPRRC). You’ll play a key role in driving the success of our research by overseeing daily operations, managing funding and contracts, and ensuring strong financial and project governance.
This role is perfect for a proactive professional who enjoys coordinating people, processes, and resources to keep a dynamic research centre running smoothly. You’ll support the Centre Director, lead core business functions, and help deliver impactful research that aligns with QCPRRC and UQ’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Coordinate daily research activities, track project progress, and ensure milestones are achieved while supporting the Centre Director and Administration Officer.
- Support the development and implementation of the Centre’s research strategy and manage high-quality grant submissions in line with internal and external requirements.
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage research funding agreements, liaising with legal, ethics, governance, and research support teams to ensure compliance.
- Lead budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting for research projects, providing accurate forecasts and strategic insights.
- Oversee reporting obligations, manage research risks, and ensure accurate data and documentation for performance monitoring and WHS compliance.
- Build strong relationships with academic, industry, and government partners while leading research administration staff to deliver professional, high-quality operational support.

About You
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience planning, delivering, and managing research in a team environment, including monitoring, reporting, and compliance with ethics/governance requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in contracts and funding agreements, including negotiation and government funding schemes (especially with industry or cross-institution collaborations).
- Strategic and operational management skills, including financial management, project management, risk management, intellectual property, and business reporting.
- High-level computer proficiency, particularly with office applications; familiarity with financial and research management systems is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, handle ambiguity, and anticipate risks.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefings, reports, and strategic documents.
- Experience leading a team, including planning, organising, performance management, and staff development.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, mandatory immunisations and Working with Children.
