McClatchy is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Social Media Coordinator to manage paid and organic social media distribution efforts targeting non-subscriber audiences. Reporting to the Media Distribution Manager, this role will focus on campaign execution, optimization and analysis across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X and others.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 60k and 70k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage, execute and optimize paid and organic social media campaigns across platforms to grow traffic, acquire audiences, increase engagement and nurture non-subscribers.
  • Align social distribution efforts with key Audience Development and Editorial goals.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments as needed to launch, optimize and maintain influencer and community management campaigns to meet content marketing goals and drive audience engagement.
  • Generate and analyze performance reports for campaigns, providing insights and data-driven recommendations on engagement and ROI to inform optimization strategies.
  • Regularly conduct competitor analysis and A/B tests on headlines, images, CTAs and content types to inform strategies and improve campaign performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Editorial, Product and Audience teams to ensure standards are met and best practice guidelines are followed.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to manage budgets and spend allocation in line with campaign objectives.
  • Ability to monitor comments, inboxes and social media conversations to increase engagement and quickly address negative interactions.
  • Stay current with social media trends, tools, platform updates, algorithm shifts and best practices to ensure strategy remains innovative and effective. 
  • Assist in tagging setup and implementation (UTMs, pixels, etc.) to ensure accurate campaign tracking.
  • Ability to cross-train and serve as primary backup for Media Distribution Coordinator by demonstrating the ability to learn and execute paid and organic media campaigns across platforms (O&O, GAM, Stackadapt, Taboola, etc.) in order to drive audience acquisition and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Meta Business Suite, TikTok Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, with experience using social listening tools like Sprout Social or SocialFlow.
  • Experience with paid content amplification platforms such as StackAdapt, Taboola, Google Ads, DV360 and Google Search Console is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of viral trends, engagement drivers and social-first creative strategies to maximize reach and audience impact.
  • Strong grasp of key digital media KPIs, industry benchmarks and performance metrics to drive effective campaign reporting and optimization.
  • Familiarity with reporting and data visualization tools such as Amplitude, Google Analytics, Looker and TapClicks for tracking campaign performance and insights.
  • Proven experience with audience targeting strategies tailored for media and content-driven businesses to maximize reach, engagement and conversion.
  • Experienced copywriter with an eye for design; familiarity with common editing tools is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and project management skills.

Education And Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; preferably in marketing, or the equivalent education, experience, skills and knowledge needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position. 

Minimum qualifications: Two years of experience in field or in comparable fields.  Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university preferred; computer skills.
