Junior Cloud Systems Engineer – Nsvt 2.0 (Aws Govcloud / Cybersecurity Appliances)
Overview
We are seeking a Junior Cloud Systems Engineer to assist with the engineering, deployment, and maintenance of the Network Security Virtualization Training (NSVT) 2.0 environment within AWS GovCloud. The role will support the setup and configuration of virtualized Cyber Network Defense (CND) appliances, help manage cloud-based infrastructure, and collaborate with senior engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and curriculum developers. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with secure cloud environments and DoD-compliant systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure & Environment Management
- Assist in deploying and maintaining VLANs and virtual appliances within AWS GovCloud (e.g., CANES PROD, CANES Provisioning, CND Shore Node, ISSM Client Node VLANs).
- Support Bastion Host configurations for primary and Gold Stack environments.
- Help manage VM lifecycle tasks, including builds, snapshots, migrations, and retirements.
- Ensure systems are aligned with FedRAMP High and DoD security controls under senior engineer guidance.

2. Appliance Integration & Configuration
- Support the integration and configuration of core CND appliances such as ACAS, HBSS, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE, and WSAV.
- Verify appliance connectivity and assist in troubleshooting within GovCloud VLANs.
- Coordinate version updates and licensing with engineering and cybersecurity teams.
- Develop and maintain basic PowerShell or Python scripts to automate common provisioning and monitoring tasks.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to align automation activities with CI/CD best practices.
- Participate in internal testing rounds to validate NSVT 2.0 functionality.
- Document system findings and support senior engineers in resolving punch-list items.
- Assist in maintaining baseline configurations and environment templates.
- Contribute technical notes and screenshots for Lesson Plans, Job Sheets, and Training Guides.

- Familiarity with AWS, VMware, or other virtualization technologies.
- Basic understanding of PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, or Linux administration.
