About The Role
Looking for a detail-oriented and strategic Payroll Accounting Manager to lead the financial operations related to payroll services. This role combines traditional finance management responsibilities with specialized oversight of payroll accounting and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical, and process improvement skills to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance in all payroll-related financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Performing Payroll reconciliation between the Payroll files and the invoicing for all countries- Gross Wage Reconciliation
- Push the billings, payroll postings and investigate differences working directly with the Payroll team.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll accounting processes including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and cost allocations.
- Ensuring payroll data is accurately reflected in the accounting system and fully reconciled with the billing system.
- Work with Billing team to ensure any unresolved issues on credit memos, invoices and accruals
- Analyze and report on payroll variances, financial performance, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making through financial insights and scenario modeling.
- Supervise payroll accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for multiple clients.
- Collaborate with operations teams to reconcile payroll disbursements, benefits, deductions, and withholdings.
- Establish and monitor internal controls around payroll processes to mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and local regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate and assist Global accounting team on external payroll audits; prepare necessary documentation and respond to auditor queries.
- Stay current with changes in payroll legislation, tax requirements, and accounting regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement of payroll accounting systems, processes, and controls.
- Partner with IT and operations to optimize automation, reporting tools, and integrations between payroll and finance systems.
- Recommend and implement best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with the team of accountants and finance analysts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, legal, operations, and tax teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Experience in working for a Payroll company is a Plus
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, general ledger, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with ERP and payroll systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Solid understanding of tax and regulatory requirements related to payroll.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams.
