Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute Legal Counsel with 5–7 years PQE to join our legal team. Based in Ireland, the successful candidate will help expand our legal team’s presence both locally and globally, reporting directly to the Senior Counsel in the United States. The role involves supporting complex aircraft leasing, trading, and financing transactions, while collaborating with stakeholders across legal, commercial, technical, tax and finance functions in different jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support complex, cross-border aircraft leasing, trading, and financing transactions from inception to execution, including the negotiation and drafting of related documentation.
- Identify and resolve legal and commercial issues proactively, providing clear and practical advice aligned with business objectives.
- Utilize strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, and liaise effectively with internal stakeholders across legal, commercial, technical, tax, and finance functions, as well as external counsel and, where applicable, regulatory bodies.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote, international legal team reporting to senior counsel based in the United States.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, including maximizing efficiency and controlling legal costs.
- Exhibit excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and to maintain and manage the company’s legal records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in Ireland; additional qualifications in England & Wales, or in the United States are a plus.
- 5–7 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in aviation leasing, aircraft finance, or asset finance law, preferably gained in a leading law firm or in-house legal department within the aviation sector.
- In-depth understanding of lease compliance, with a focus on ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, supporting enforcement actions, and promoting sound risk management practices.
- Experience advising on corporate governance, corporate compliance, and sanctions compliance is highly desirable.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support business needs and attend global team meetings.
