Job Description

The Senior Digital Design Lead plays a pivotal role in defining the strategic direction of digital learning experiences that support organizational objectives and deliver measurable performance improvements.

This position oversees the creation of scalable, learner-focused solutions across various platforms, incorporating emerging technologies and evidence-based learning practices.

It requires close collaboration with the Training & Development leadership, project/change teams, and key stakeholders to ensure digital learning is inclusive, engaging, and seamlessly integrated into the broader learning ecosystem. As a thought leader, the Senior Digital Design Lead also guides and mentors design team members, while influencing stakeholders to embrace innovative approaches that strengthen workforce capability and drive impact.

In This Role You Will:

  • Lead the development and continuous refinement of a digital learning strategy that aligns with business goals, learner needs, and the organisation’s digital transformation agenda.
  • Oversee and develop the design of holistic, performance-driven learning journeys across multiple digital formats (e.g., eLearning, mobile, microlearning, immersive media).
  • Partner with stakeholders to diagnose performance challenges and define learning requirements using data, research, and business insight.
  • Establish and maintain scalable design systems, templates, and best practices that ensure quality, consistency, and brand alignment across 
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR, adaptive learning) to enhance learning effectiveness and engagement.
  • Apply UX, accessibility, and inclusive design principles to ensure digital learning experiences are intuitive, equitable, and effective for diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with learning designers, developers, SMEs, product teams, and business units to co-create impactful solutions.
  • Define success metrics, oversee learning analytics strategies, and use data to iterate and improve digital learning experiences over time.
  • Mentor and coach the digital learning designers and other designers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Communicate the value of digital learning initiatives to senior leaders and advocate for strategic investment in learning as a driver of business success.

Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years+ experience in digital learning, instructional design or L&D lead roles 
  • Minimum of 5 years experienced in use of Articulate Storyline 360 & Articulate Rise 360 
  • Good understating of how training is developed, documented, managed and delivered  
  • Familiarity with program and project management approaches, tools, structures and phases of the project lifecycle. 
  • Outstanding communication/presentation skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong planning capabilities 
  • Instructional design to an agreed or prescribed standard
