Moderna.com

Office

New Jersey

Full Time

The Role:

This role reports directly to the U.S. General Manager and is a key member of the U.S. leadership team. It leads cross-functional commercial strategy for the U.S. respiratory portfolio and will be a critical representative for the U.S. in global portfolio planning forums. It is responsible for driving integration across commercial functions, shaping and executing portfolio strategy, and supporting launch and sales capabilities. The position leads a small team (1–2 direct reports) and will orchestrate resources across matrix teams from Sales, Access, Trade, and Medical. It requires strong cross-functional leadership, strategic thinking, and a bias for execution.

Here’S What You’Ll Do:

Portfolio Strategy & Cross-Functional Integration

  • Serve as the central integrator of portfolio strategy, consolidating short- and medium-term product strategies across sales, pricing, market access, marketing, and medical.
  • Develop and maintain integrated commercial scenarios that reflect how the portfolio will be launched and sold across customer segments and channels.
  • Operationalize a comprehensive view of the economic offering—spanning value proposition, contracting strategy, and customer-level dynamics—across the portfolio.
  • Drive alignment across functions by maintaining the operating mechanism that channels inputs from disparate teams into a cohesive strategic plan.
  • Ensure consistency and integration in decision-making across the commercial model, enabling a unified go-to-market approach for the U.S. respiratory portfolio.
  • Serves as a standing member of the U.S. Commercial Leadership Team, advising the US GM on integrated strategy, resourcing trade-offs, and portfolio performance metrics.

Strategic Initiatives (Design & Execution)

  • Support the implementation of key strategic initiatives, partnering with initiative leads to ensure execution excellence and measurable impact.
  • Independently lead select initiatives from concept to launch, including design, resourcing, stakeholder alignment, and execution.
  • Interface with customers and field-facing teams to ensure strategic initiatives are grounded in real-world needs and can be effectively deployed in-market.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure initiatives are commercially viable and integrated into broader team priorities.
  • Manages operating budget and vendor relationships tied to strategic initiative delivery, including external consultants or launch partners as needed.

Launch Framework & Excellence

  • Partner with the global team to ensure U.S. readiness within the global launch framework, including tailored approaches for each respiratory product launch.
  • Champion launch excellence capabilities for both new launches and annual strain updates, embedding best practices, timelines, and accountability structures.
  • Act as a key interface between global and U.S. teams to ensure the seamless translation of launch frameworks into country-level execution plans.
  • Continuously evolve the launch “engine” by assessing performance and identifying opportunities for standardization, acceleration, or innovation.
  • Co-leads U.S. strategy alignment within global commercial forums, representing the U.S. in global portfolio decisions, launch sequencing, and go-to-market design.

Sales Capability & Operating Model Support

  • Support the development and rollout of capabilities critical to the U.S. sales organization, including integrated account planning, business reviews, and performance management routines.
  • Help define and reinforce the U.S. commercial cadence and operating model to drive clarity, accountability, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Contribute to capability-building efforts through content development, workshop facilitation, and adoption monitoring.
  • Act as a thought partner to Sales leadership to continuously evolve and scale the team's tools, processes, and commercial execution muscle.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’S Degree Required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial strategy, portfolio planning, or launch operations, with a strong track record of delivering cross-functional impact across Sales, Access, Marketing, and Medical Affairs
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving sales, marketing, market access, and medical affairs
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a bias toward execution
  • Experience leading initiatives with financial accountability, resource planning, or launch delivery in a matrixed biopharma environment
