About The Role

Directs the manufacturing operations of the organization through supervisory personnel to safely produce a profitable mix of trailers on a timely basis, while continually striving to improve processes. 

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Drives employee safety in all production processes and activities through proactive guidance and leadership.
  • Leads, oversees, and sets a positive example in the adherence to guidelines of OSHA, EPA and all other State and Federal agencies in cooperation with the Health and Safety Department to promote a culture of safety.

Quality

  • Works closely with other departments such as Engineering, Quality and Service to ensure that products meet company standards and are built to drawings or specifications using approved methods. Consults with the VP of Operations and/or other Directors and Managers when any deviation is deemed necessary.
  • Ensures that the people assigned to a task have the necessary training and tools to achieve the expected quality outcome. 

Productivity

  • Direct responsibility for the facility’s operational performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Continuous Improvement, Productivity, and Cost for production departments.
  • Responsible for identifying, growing, and investing in the talent in the Operations organization resulting in improved manager effectiveness. 
  • Insure year over year efficiency and productivity improvement. 
  • Directs the manufacturing of Trail King product, through our supervisory personnel, to meet or exceed Trail King standards of efficiency and quality.
  • Develops and maintains the production schedule to ensure delivery of product to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitors and recommends staffing changes based on customer orders.
  • Works closely with the Engineering Department to ensure accurate feedback is given to continually improve design documentation.
  • Administers company policies as they relate to the production work force.
  • Assist the Industrial Engineering department in the research and development of plant tooling procedures and processes.
  • Serves on the management team and is involved with all management decisions regarding the manufacturing processes.
  • Helps develop the budgets for the departments they are responsible for, and monitors said budgets as required to ensure compliance.
  • Oversees production equipment and facility upkeep along with planned updates as production needs evolve.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance of manufacturing supervisory personnel.
  • Monitors reviews of hourly manufacturing personnel to ensure continuity between areas.
  • Reviews and approves all plant wage and job changes.
  • Communicates and assists manufacturing departments at other Trail King facilities as needed.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed.

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred with 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a leadership capacity. Must be experienced in cell manufacturing concepts and plant layout, Lean principles, and a strong background in automation processes. Most be self-motivated, possessing a positive attitude and strong work ethic, leading by example and able to motivate a team by promoting a positive leadership style focused on safety, engagement, and change management.
