This is a remote position.
Senior AccountantSchedule: 4AM MST to 12PM MST (The hours can vary, as most of the clean-up will not need to have communication with the client…but for the days that need communication those will be the general hours.)
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. This role is critical in managing new client cleanups and onboarding preparation, ensuring smooth transitions and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have deep accounting expertise, advanced QuickBooks Online (QBO) skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive accounting cleanups for new clients, ensuring accuracy and organization of financial records.
Support onboarding preparation, setting clients up successfully within QuickBooks Online and related systems.
Review, reconcile, and adjust general ledger accounts to maintain compliance with accounting standards.
Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data with precision, create clear documents to go over with clients on items that need more details for correct categorization.
Work directly with clients to collect documentation, clarify records, and establish best practices.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, when needed.
Collaborate with management to improve workflows, processes, and onboarding efficiency.
Manage possible QuickBooks Desktop to Online conversions, reviewing accuracy and correcting discrepancies.
Execute client-specific cleanups, including but not limited to:
o Importing and merging updated Chart of Accounts (COA)
o Journal Entry Adjustments (Work in Progress, Deposit Liabilities)
o Inputting and validating prior transactions
o Fixed Assets review and corrections
o Bad debts review
o Sales tax reconciliation
o Long-term liabilities review
o Account categorizations
o Reconciling QuickBooks AR with CCCOne (CRM system) and correcting invalid receivables
o Reviewing AP and addressing outstanding payables
o Possible CRM adjustments
Perform other duties as assigned, understanding that each client presents unique needs.
Note: To ensure quality and accuracy, the COO will review the first cleanup completed in this role, given its importance and limited oversight.
Qualifications
10+ years of professional accounting experience, with strong expertise in managing complex tasks.
2+ years of direct QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience, including setup, cleanup, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
Experience in preparing financial statements and reconciling complex accounts.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly.
Experience onboarding clients or working with accounting system transitions preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred but not required.
