Overview
We are currently looking for a Commercial Broker Support (trainee) to join our professional and welcoming team in Orpington.
Brown & Brown Orpington provide specialist products to Personal and Commercial clients throughout the UK. We have sustained one of the highest customer satisfaction and retention rates within the industry by focusing on the precise needs of our clients.
The position of the Trainee Broker / Broker Support will ideally suit someone with a professional and business-like approach at all times. Someone who has good A-Level results or a degree, with a can-do attitude who is looking for a career in a diverse industry with opportunities and challenges. The candidate must be looking to further their education to become at least Cert CII qualified, with an ambition to be DIP qualified. Brown & Brown will support and provide funding towards ongoing professional qualifications.
The successful candidate will be joining either our Commercial Insurance or Commercial Motor Fleet team. Based on the individuals experience and skills, an agreed career path will be designed. Your initial role will either be based in an Account Handling team, assisting with customer service and administration, or based in a Sales team, quoting, negotiating and administrating new quotes and/or renewals.
We focus heavily on training and development and a full induction and training plan will be provided to successful applicants.
Day To Day
- New business quoting, negotiating, broking and administration - converting new business enquires in line with, or in excess of, company targets.
- Renewal negotiating, broking and administration - converting renewal business in line with, or excess of, company targets.
- Midterm adjustments & administration.
- Maintaining day to day compliance procedures for FCA regulation.
- Incoming and outbound call handing - new and existing clients.
- Effectively manage individual diary.
- Cross selling other insurance products.
- Credit control for clients
- Provide support to the department executives in accordance with office procedures.
- Managing personal workflow effectively and efficiently - reporting workflow to manager.
- Corresponding and communicating with clients and insurers.
- Maintaining a complete and comprehensive training record.
- Sharing ideas or suggestions for business improvement with management.
- Advising manager of any backlog of work in a timely manner.
- Advising manager of any debt recovery problems or contentious issues in a timely manner

- Insurance Broking experience or transferrable skills from other business sectors
