We Are Looking For:

CLS Health is seeking a Backend Developer (FHIR / API / Automation) to design and implement backend solutions that streamline our coding and revenue cycle management processes. This role will focus on building a rules engine, developing system integrations, and ensuring secure, compliant data exchange with EHR and billing platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development skills combined with hands-on experience in healthcare data standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a logic engine that categorizes holds, denials, and required documentation.
• Build and maintain integrations with EHR systems using FHIR/HL7 standards.
• Connect to billing and claims systems using X12 transactions.
• Implement audit-trail functionality for compliance and quality monitoring.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend functionality into user-facing applications.
• Ensure data security, performance, and reliability in all backend systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in system architecture discussions and recommend improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Java.
• Strong knowledge of FHIR/HL7, X12, and healthcare data standards.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in healthcare applications, RCM, or EHR integrations.
• Knowledge of HIPAA security and privacy standards.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with automation frameworks and workflow engines.
