Senior IT Manager/IT Manager of Research Services Systems Team in the Information Technology Services (ITS) (Ref.: 533404)
ITS provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. We are seeking high-caliber candidates to lead the team for new system implementation and support different services of Research Services Systems in the University. The Role
The appointee will act as the ITS Research Services Systems Team Lead working with and reporting to the Head of Application and Process Section to define the strategy for the Research systems and enablement of the University; and be responsible for:
- planning and implementing new digital transformation projects for the Research systems;
- leading and managing the team to perform the design, building, testing, and deployment of the research systems implementation, development and enhancements;
- maintaining knowledge of research systems’ capabilities, educating collaborators on the benefits of those capabilities and serving as the internal evangelist for the use of the platform;
- ensuring the research systems implementation is aligned with all internal and external audit requirements, data privacy laws, and security requirements;
- leading user discussions and engagement, communicating with thought leaders and decision-makers with a high degree of professionalism;
- using strength in research grant and research output management business acumen and building out solutions of research systems to ensure productivity and enhance customer experience; and
- leading the team to develop innovative solutions for using AI in research grant management and output management operations.
Qualifications And Qualities
Applicants Should Possess:
- a Bachelor’s degree in IT or related disciplines with at least 10 years of relevant experience, including 8 years of experience at supervisory level;
- extensive experience in leading a technical team and managing complex IT implementation projects from design, development, testing to production rollout of business applications, especially in large-scale system implementation;
- deep understanding of business acumen in research grant management, research output management and university operations;
- proven experience in programme/project management, team supervision, business processes re-engineering and vendor management;
- the ability to manage stakeholders and communicate with people across different functions and levels within an organization with strong presentation skills;
- excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills;
- a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
- good knowledge of IT services and applications;
- good organizational and interpersonal skills;
- experience in Java in-house development and integration with other systems, including SSO and API integration; and
- experience in configuration and development of research information management systems, such as Clarviate Converis solution, or certification in PMP, ITIL or PRINCE2 would be advantageous.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Manager.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of the basic salary for Senior IT Manager, and 10% of the basic salary for IT Manager.
