Looking for a position that will expose you and utilize your knowledge to all aspects of SQL Server including Cloud Technologies? We are looking for a SQL Server DBA who excels in great customer service with a strong technical knowledge to help our customers get the best out of their system. An individual who is motivated to find the root cause solutions and who likes to take on an unknown issue as a challenge and a chance to expand their knowledge.
The ideal candidate would like to work problems on their own, but knows they have a team of experienced DBAs to fall back on for guidance and suggestions. We work in many different customer systems. Understanding of VPN technologies is a plus for this position. Customer service skills will be required with interacting with customers. Having a passion for all things SQL Server is a must. The ideal candidate would be a person who loves SQL Server with an overall understanding of IT. The person has a passion to be able to communicate to sysadmins, developers and general users when it comes to SQL Server and how to get the most out of their systems. They would love to be challenged with implementing new features of SQL Server and troubleshooting if there are issues. They have a desire to find root cause quickly and put processes in place to ensure issues do not continue.
General Overview Of Position:
- Provide comprehensive production support for all SQL Server versions and editions.
- Manage and maintain database environments for multiple customers across on-premises, hosting, and cloud infrastructures.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting across all functional aspects of SQL Server.
- Execute advanced performance tuning and optimization.
- Conduct proactive database health checks and ensure operational readiness.
- Develop and consult on database architecture design.
- Deliver technical support via phone, screen-share, and direct access to supported technologies.
- Engage in development opportunities to build supporting tools and automation.
- Occasional travel, up to 25%.
- What you bring to your new team
- Experience & Expertise
- 7+ years as a dedicated SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
- 5+ years of specialized experience as a Production DBA supporting mission critical environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience and advanced industry certifications that confirm expert-level proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and Cloud Database platforms.
Details of Technical Skills Needed (3+ years)
- DBA Experience: Minimum 7 years of total SQL Server experience supporting multiple versions.
- Database Migrations: Experience planning and implementing database migrations both on-premises and to the cloud.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience in either Azure and/or AWS cloud environments, including Azure Managed Instance, Azure SQL, and RDS.
- Engine Management: Proficiency in the deployment and update of the SQL Server engine and clients.
- HA/DR: Expertise with Backup and Recovery, high availability/Clustering, AlwaysOn, and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Performance Tuning: Skill in Tuning reviews/assessments (DB and SQL tuning), and query monitoring (including QueryStore).
- Development Objects: Hands-on experience with SSIS Packages, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints and functions.
- Problem Solving: Must be able to demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and research technical issues with high-level problem determination and resolution skills.
- Communication: Must communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Support & Guidance: Experience assisting, troubleshooting, and guiding technical and non-technical resources with any issues.
- Operational Readiness: Ability to provide configuration, monitoring, and on-call support for development, test, and production environments.

- Prior Technical support or call center support experience.
- Professional Consulting Experience is a plus.

This position has an expected salary range of $100,000 - $130,000 annually.
You will also be eligible for the XTIVIA employee bonus plan.
