About The Role:

The SVP, Lending plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our lending business platform. Reporting directly to Peoples Group’s Head of Product Management, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing and optimizing our Lending business while supporting innovation across the organization. You will lead the strategy and business performance for lending, leveraging emerging technologies and market trends to enhance the organization’s strategic direction and competitiveness.

You will be instrumental in managing the institution’s financial health, driving business performance and identifying new opportunities for growth. As a key member of the leadership team, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that our financial strategies align with both short-term goals and long-term objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of financial markets, advanced understanding of credit risk and lending business management, and emerging financial technologies. You will be a visionary leader with the ability to navigate complex financial challenges, while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across our lending teams.

About You:

As the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Lending, you will bring a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking mindset to the evolving landscape of lending. You have a proven track record of leadership in lending platforms and driving superior performance of the bank’s lending products across all client segments. You are a results-oriented individual with deep expertise in overseeing lending solutions, encompassing Multi-Family Residential Mortgage Lending, Single-Family Residential Mortgage Lending and Structured Finance.  You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and have the ability to balance strategic vision with strong go to market leadership and have consistently driven growth and optimized financial performance across complex organizations. You are known for your ability to anticipate market trends, proactively address challenges, and actively implement forward-looking solutions that align with organizational goals.

About The Day To Day:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for lending solutions, encompassing Multi-Family Mortgage (MFR) Lending, Single-Family Residential Mortgage Lending and Structured Finance.
  • Lead initiatives to expand lending portfolios while maintaining credit quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the board-facing leader with credibility to engage effectively with executive leadership and board members.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Peoples, enhancing brand recognition through strategic social media engagement and public speaking.
  • Maintain a best-in-class understanding of market trends, translating insights into actionable strategies that inform internal decision-making and external positioning.
  • Champion the bank’s voice in the industry by contributing to thought leadership initiatives, including white papers, webinars, and media commentary.
  • Collaborate with leadership on growth, profitability, and risk mitigation.

Portfolio Monitoring

  • Oversee the performance and risk profile of the lending portfolio.
  • Ensure sound underwriting practices and adherence to credit policies.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust lending strategies accordingly to deliver financial performance.

Leadership & Talent Development:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of lending specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations
  • Encourage collaboration and open communication within the team to drive innovation and efficiency
  • Recognize and reward outstanding performance, promoting a positive and motivating work environment
  • Develop succession plans to ensure continuity and stability within the department.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into team processes and workflows

About The Qualifications:

  • Accomplished executive with experience in credit underwriting, commercial multi-family, structured finance, CMHC and conventional mortgages    
  • 20+ year proven track record of lending portfolio growth and team leadership with executive presence and thought leadership capabilities, representing the bank at industry conferences, panels and public forums
  • Deep understanding of credit risk, underwriting, and regulatory frameworks
  • Highly articulate, a proficient communicator who applies sound business judgment in legal, financial, and client relationship decisions  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred

About The Work Environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm with flexibility around start/end times.
