Software Engineer III, Full Stack, Devices and Services

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

The Device and Services Systems team designs, builds, and maintains the software systems backbone that enables the manufacturing, product design, sourcing, planning, fulfillment and execution, and business serving for all consumer devices designed and sold by Google including Pixel, Fitbit, and Nest. Our systems support orders from both retailers and end customers and help optimize the on-hand, in-transit, and planned supply against orders and projected demand. We are actively applying AI/ML technologies across our solutions to enhance these processes. We manage a global inventory and life-cycle of all devices made/sold, providing comprehensive fulfillment and execution, return, repair, and replacement options to our user base and partners. We also partner with other engineering teams Google Payments, Finance, gStore and Sales team.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
