What You’Ll Do
As an Area Visual Merchandiser (Trainee), you contribute to the sales and profit goals in your Area by creating and executing a plan to deliver a great customer experience in alignment with the country strategy. Over the course of about 12 months, you’ll learn to ensure that stores have strong Visual Teams by actively driving succession planning, talent and leadership development, and structured performance management based on results, values, and leadership. You work cross-functionally, collaborating with key stakeholders to secure operational excellence while ensuring compliance with legal requirements, H&M standards, policies, and procedures to meet the expectations of both customers and colleagues.
You Will Learn To:
- Implement the Commercial Handbook through coaching, store visits, and feedback, maintaining high visual standards aligned with global guidelines.
- Establish visual routines for Store VM teams to ensure clear garment presentation and adherence to brand expectations.
- Drive talent management by working with Area HR, Store Managers, and the Area Controller on succession planning, annual dialogues, and development plans.
- Regularly collaborate with Support Office VMs and Country VMs to maintain visual standards and keep teams updated on trends, styling, and competitor insights.
- Ensure effective execution of local commercial plans, driving sales campaigns and activities to enhance brand preference.
- Support store expansion, rebuilds, and maintenance, managing VM materials with a focus on sustainability.
- Provide visual training to ensure a strong pipeline of talent and clear role expectations across teams.

The Visual Merchandising function aims to drive store growth by creating exceptional store experiences, ensuring high productivity, financial resilience, and a strong brand presence. We achieve this through holistic retail strategies, powered by innovation and supported by our global network of teams and partners.
As part of the team, you’ll collaborate with your Area team and stores to support and follow up on the execution of the store activation plan, ensuring commercial basics and visual consistency across stores.
Who You Are
We are looking for people with…
- Several years of work experience in visual merchandising and leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Familiarity with tech applications, including Microsoft Office
- Experience in working in an area team environment (preferred but not mandatory)

This is a 1 year temporary full-time position, starting as soon as possible. Throughout the 12 months, you will be placed in Amsterdam and work with one of the Area Teams the Netherlands. This role will require frequent travel to stores across the country.
