Who we are:

Apollo is a specialised independent (re)insurer, established in 2009, to deliver top-tier products and services to clients, brokers, and capital partners at Lloyd’s. The name "Apollo" was inspired by the achievements of one of its founding investors, Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon in 1969. Together with Jim Hays, Neil identified an opportunity to create a unique service provider within Lloyd’s.

Since its inception, Apollo has significantly broadened its portfolio of insurance solutions. This includes Apollo 1969’s traditional and specialty lines, ibott 1971’s innovative sharing economy products, and managing agency services at Lloyd’s through our Platform Partner Syndicates. Today, Apollo continues to grow with team of 300 professionals dedicated to fulfilling the company’s mission of enabling a resilient and sustainable world.

“We attract and retain a diverse range of talent by fostering an inclusive, equitable team environment where individuals from all backgrounds have opportunities to grow, succeed, and contribute. We empower our teams to achieve excellence and drive forward-thinking solutions, aiming to enable a resilient and sustainable world.” - David Ibeson, Group CEO

Your Role:

As a Pricing Actuary, you will work closely with the Head of Pricing Development & Standards to enhance pricing consistency and model governance across Apollo’s syndicates. The role will focus on enhancing pricing consistency, embedding best practice, and supporting model development within the hx Renew platform, while helping to develop a true centre of modelling excellence.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality pricing outputs, improving frameworks, and fostering innovation across Apollo’s diverse and growing portfolio.

What you will do:

  • Oversee and deliver pricing activities across Apollo and Partner Syndicates, ensuring accurate, timely outputs aligned to the Lloyd’s Pricing Maturity Matrix and Principles for Doing Business.
  • Develop and maintain pricing models in hx Renew, migrating existing tools, embedding consistent frameworks, and ensuring alignment with Apollo’s pricing architecture, standards, and governance.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Data, IT, and other key stakeholders to ensure pricing needs are well understood, prioritised, and implemented effectively across business lines.
  • Maintain and evolve Power BI dashboards, KPIs, and MI to support portfolio analysis, performance tracking, and forward-looking insight.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by mentoring junior colleagues, sharing technical expertise, and supporting the Head of Pricing Development & Standards in positioning the team as a modelling centre of excellence.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Newly qualified actuary or nearly qualified, with relevant London Market pricing experience.
  • Strong understanding of pricing methodologies across multiple commercial classes.
  • Proven ability to build and enhance pricing models, ideally with experience in hx Renew.
  • Skilled in Python, with the ability to use it within hx Renew to enhance model functionality.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and SQL for analysis and dashboard creation.
  • Collaborative communicator who builds trusted relationships with stakeholders across Underwriting, Data, IT, and Finance.
  • Curious, improvement-focused mindset with a desire to innovate and refine processes.
  • Organised, pragmatic, and results-oriented approach – someone who “does not just turn the handle” but continuously looks to enhance how things are done.

What you will get in return:

Our compensation package is designed to attract top talent. In addition to a fair and attractive salary, this role offers a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive range of benefits, including 31 days of annual leave, a non-contributory pension and private medical insurance.
