The Mechatronics & Manufacturing Technician will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance and optimization of manufacturing equipment and systems related to assembly, test and packaging equipment of pressure washers at the Abbotsford BC location. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and computer systems, enabling them to work on automated machinery, robotics, and control systems. The role will work closely with the automation specialist, engineering and production to optimize the automation of machinery and enhance production processes while troubleshooting, upgrading systems, and ensuring that all automation systems meet safety and compliance standards 

Requirements

  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair automated assembly, test, and packaging equipment including fluid process and motion systems 
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to assist with repairs and installations. 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software issues in manufacturing systems and provide solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime. 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance. 
  • Provide training and technical support to production regarding production equipment, processes, safety regulations and quality control procedures 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production managers and engineers, to support a lean mindset and continuous improvements, including Design for Manufacture. 
  • Assist in the continuous development of documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for automation systems. 
  • Recommend process adjustments based on performance data and industry trends. 
  • Participate in the evaluation, design, and implementation of new automation projects 
  • Perform control circuit design and produce associated documentation for in-house systems 
  • Perform modifications to existing control systems equipment and construction of new control systems equipment as required 
  • Produce & maintain software for PLC (CODESYS) and SCADA (Ignition) 

What we are looking for in a successful candidate:

  • Associate’s degree/certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in a mechatronics or maintenance technician role in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems. 
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, control systems, and sensors. 
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools, hand tools, and equipment. 
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing automated systems, including robotic and conv. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset for continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Competency in IEC 61131 PLC software development 
  • Familiarity with Ignition preferred
