Under general supervision, provides routine technical assistance in performing assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects. Responsibilities include assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for clinical and diagnostic research.
This position will assist with projects at the Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases. These projects require an individual to conduct participant recruitment, scheduling, participant visits, data entry, data management, and other duties for successful enrollment and data collection. Participant recruitment will be dependent on enrollment goals for each project. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to participate in lectures and other activities at the Biggs Institute and UTHSCSA.
- Assists in conducting research projects according to the research protocols.
- Works with research participants in grant funded studies at the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases.
- Administers a variety of neuropsychological assessments, clinical psychiatric diagnostic interviews, and other questionnaires.
- Escorts and prepares participants for imaging exams including MRI and PET.
- Runs quality checks, downloads, uploads, and transfers imaging data including MRI and PET.
- Track and organize research files, adhering to good clinical practice guidelines.
- Log and enter data, perform quality control assessments.
- Assist with preparation of and regulatory documents.
- Use REDCap and other electronic data capture systems.
- Engage in participant outreach and recruitment, contact and track participants from established lists, update current contact information, screen for study eligibility, and schedule appointments.
- Assures compliance with institutional policies, rules and regulations to meet federal, state and local standards and codes pertaining to safety and ethics.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official
- correspondence.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other e-mail software.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, social science or a related field is required.
