ERS is seeking an Accounts Receivable Supervisor to perform highly advanced (senior-level) financial and accounting work in the Finance Division. Serves as the Supervisor of the Accounts Receivable Team. Work involves overseeing the accounts receivable subledger; including establishing and maintaining procedures and controls. Works under minimal supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises the work of the Accounts Receivable Team functions: assigns and monitors work; sets performance standards; conducts employee evaluations, trains or coordinate employee development; and counsels staff regarding work rule violations.
- Oversees and coordinates the reconciliation of accounts in the accounts receivable subledger, general ledger, and ERS operational systems.
- Oversees and coordinates the analysis of financial data and accounts receivable activities for programs and funds administrated by ERS.
- Coordinates accounts receivable activities and responds to routine or adhoc requests for other ERS divisions, the State Comptroller, and external auditors.
- Other special internal and external projects and reports as required.
- Develops and reviews policies and procedures for the Accounts Receivable team in accordance with GAAP and good internal control practices.
- Serves as a back-up for key functions of the team.
Other Duties And Responsibilities:
- Remains current on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) standards and requirements, and Legislative changes affecting management of ERS funds.
- Remains current on legislative changes that affect management of ERS funds.
- Participates in the functional design, development, and improvement of financial systems and applications.
- Consults with Information Technology staff for impact, training, and delivery of financial systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:
- 1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, finance or business-related field. Each year of related work experience over the required minimum may be substituted for required college credit
- 2. Four (4) years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or other related experience is required
- a. Work related experience must include creating accounts receivable entries and overseeing an accounts receivable subledger
- 3. Two (2) years of experience maintaining an accounting system (e.g., chart of accounts, profiles, batch jobs, report development)
- 4. Two (2) years of supervisory or team-lead experience

- 6. Experience with CAPPS Financials
- 7. Accounting experience with a Texas state agency
