To oversee, manage and direct Navy Federal’s Real Estate Lending Innovation division, including Technology & Systems, Member & Product Strategy, and Project, Portfolio, Process & Training branches. Adopt and implement new strategies, flexible and efficient technologies, systems, and processes to improve mortgage lending, servicing, and risk methodologies and practices. Collaborate with department executives and related key personnel to develop and execute short and long-term goals and strategies to achieve innovative platforms and digital systems to improve the efficiency, productivity, and member and team member experience of Real Estate Lending. Direct Real Estate Lending Innovation activities to drive department and corporate objectives, while ensuring alignment with the strategy, mission, vision, and values. Direct reports to EVP Real Estate Lending.

  • Assume responsibility/accountability for the leadership, direction, and management of the Navy Federal Real Estate Lending Innovation division
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior executive leadership regarding new, flexible and efficient technologies and member and team member experiences to improve real estate lending and servicing methodologies and practices
  • Collaborate with senior executive leadership to develop, drive, and execute department strategy and the portfolio of strategic efforts 
  • Direct division operations to achieve goals and objectives, proactively affecting change by embracing new, flexible, and agile approaches as appropriate and challenging the status quo
  • Oversee the management of department project portfolio and ensure efficient and effective execution
  • Oversee the design, development and implementation of new systems and regular testing of new innovative real estate lending internal controls, systems, processes, and procedures
  • Adopt and implement strategies to better serve our members through digital transformation (data and analytics, change management, AI, machine learning) 
  • Partner with department executives, leadership and other key personnel to create and execute a strategic roadmap centered around best in class initiatives leveraging data to implement short and long-term strategies that promote and achieve a culture of excellence
  • Align staff and resources, processes and technologies to identify, implement, and optimize automation enhancement opportunities to improve quality and reduce manual work
  • Analyze the external environment (e.g., competitor practices, member needs and preferences, economic trends) and the internal environment (e.g., available technology, resource demands, existing Navy Federal practices and policies) and assimilate industry trends and best practices, new technologies, analytics, product innovation, and continuous process improvements into department strategy
  • Review and analyze competitive positioning, new product/service offerings, and cost-benefit considerations to drive member satisfaction
  • Ensure strategic alignment of department initiatives involving selection, evaluation and management of products, systems, and technologies that optimize Real Estate Lending operations 
  • Establish credibility throughout Navy Federal, and with executive peers, as an effective spokesman for his/her area of responsibility, and developer of solutions for business challenges
  • Administer vendor selection and related procurement efforts; ensure coordination with Procurement, General Counsel and other relevant Navy Federal departments on pricing agreements and budgeting
  • Monitor stakeholder and vendor relationships and expectations; ensure support, awareness and understanding through effective communication of new products, systems, and technologies to appropriate partiesEngage key stakeholders and leadership to re-design real estate lending and servicing processes by identifying root causes and improvement opportunities
  • Perform supervisory and managerial responsibilities as leader of the program
  • Set direction to ensure goals and objectives align with corporate and division strategy 
  • Select management and other key personnel; oversee talent development and succession planning 
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of department/division Annual Financial Plan and budget 
  • Manage merit pay in accordance with specified objectives and guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Set direction to ensure goals and objectives align with corporate and division strategy 
  • Select management and other key personnel; oversee talent development and succession planning 
  • Oversee the preparation and execution of department/division Annual Financial Plan and budget 
  • Manage merit pay in accordance with specified objectives and guidelines
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, Economics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Extensive experience in managing operations and technology systems in a large financial institution
  • Extensive experience in leading and managing analytical, process improvement and automation, and business intelligence teams
  • Expert knowledge of any, or all, of the following: asset/liability management, financial accounting, cost accounting, budgeting principles and practices, statistics, finance, and/or mathematical modeling
  • Advanced knowledge of mortgage and equity lending products and services, programs, policies and procedures and industry best practices 
  • Significant experience in mortgage lending operations, financial management, technology systems and internal/external redesign for a large financial organization
  • Extensive experience working with large, enterprise-wide automation platforms & technology systems
  • Extensive experience in client/vendor management to achieve strategic/tactical goals and implementation
  • Extensive experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative taking, decision-making and creativity in solving business problems
  • Significant experience in driving change management and influencing organizational culture and values
  • Extensive experience in managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact
  • Extensive experience in supervising and leading professional employees
  •  Expert skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation
  • Expert skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of technical decisions and issues
  • Expert analytical/quantitative, reconciliation and deductive reasoning skills
  • Expert skill interpreting and synthesizing large amounts of information
  • Expert skill leading with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
  • Expert skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment
  • Expert verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills 
  • Expert skill in being adaptive/flexible; acquire, recognize & apply new information

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of, and extensive experience in, credit union and/or retail banking operations
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies, and procedures
