We are seeking a Material/Process Inspector to join our dynamic team and specialize in Coatings and Traffic Materials Testings. Position Description

 

Material/Process Inspector I:

Performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Material/Process Inspector Ii:

Performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Essential Duties:

Material/Process Inspector I:

  • Keeps equipment mileage and service records and schedules equipment repairs.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Performs tests and inspection duties.
  • Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement.
  • Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stage of production for testing.
  • Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status programs
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. 

Material/Process Inspector Ii:

  • Handles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectors.
  • Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports. 
  • Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Performs test and inspection duties.
  • Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement. 
  • Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing.
  • Drive/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of programs.

Material/Process Inspector I:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Experience: No experience required (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). 

Material/Process Inspector Ii:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.

Experience: 1 year of experience in laboratory work, material inspection or other engineering related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). 

Licenses And Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

  • Giving attention to detail and reviewing information to identify any errors and problems; ensuring consistency and clarity of information
  • Performing calculations using algebra, tirognoamey, and geometry

  • Safely using, operating, and maintaining applicable equipment

  • Conducting Laboratory Tests

  • Calibrating Equipment

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:

  • Subject to inside and outside environment conditions
  • Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour
  • Subject To Noise

  • Subject to hazards-moving vehicles/mechanical parts, high places/heat, or chemicals 
  • Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hard, or other device
  • Medium work: Lift up to 50lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
  • Grasping-applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm
  • Close Visual Acuity-using measurements devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts
