The TxDOT Support Services Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Building Automation Systems Tech Coordinator position. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling building automation control systems, such as HVAC, lighting, fire protection, generators, and alarms. This individual will be responsible for building automation for the TxDOT facilities in Austin, TX.

Position Description
Performs skilled and highly complex electronics technical support work. Work involves coordinating work related to installing, diagnosing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing building automation equipment, instruments and systems. Work requires contact with departmental employees, contractors and private entities. Serves as a Lead Worker. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
- Assists project managers with construction and management projects and contracts.
- Inspects contracted work and coordinates the contract process.
- Maintains, repairs and installs computer and network equipment.
- Provides technical and administrative support in isolating and analyzing system circuits, hardware and software.
- Writes specifications for repair parts, system components and tests equipment.
- Performs and/or coordinates the installation, maintenance or repair of complex electrical and electronic components equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoots, analyzes and solves complex technical building automation software/hardware and client server problems.
- Maintains the building automation and configures and implements communication systems.
- Coordinates work and troubleshoots microprocessor controlled building automation and miscellaneous electrical equipment.
- Receives and processes work orders and coordinates repairs.
- Reviews, analyzes and provides technical support and advice on building automation operating systems, hardware upgrades and compatibility issues for numerous electronic devices requiring reliable network connectivity.
- Trains and/or assists employees in the use of various building automation electronic equipment.
- Serves as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members' career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience:
5 years of experience in installation, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of electronic or building automation equipment or systems. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Licenses And Certifications:
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

This position is part of a 13-member rotational on-call team. Once every thirteenth week, the selected individual will be on call for a seven-day period. During this time, the employee will receive compensation for designated on-call (“standby”) status and will earn compensatory time for each call to which they respond.
