Brief Job Description: 
The Thermal Sustaining Engineer will develop improvements to existing Thermal products and support product sustaining tasks. The Thermal Sustaining Engineer will coordinate solutions to issues and questions raised from Quality, Manufacturing, Applications Engineering, Purchasing and other groups in a timely fashion to maintain product offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support to internal Vertiv functions
  • Understands the products, suggesting ideas and improvements back to group
  • Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production, service, quality and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points.
  • Creates/modifies mechanical parts/assemblies/drawings in CAD systems such as Creo and/or Solid Edge
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials, released using product lifecycle management tools
  • Submit engineering change orders in Oracle PLM, releasing design changes including BOM and CAD documentation
  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements
  • Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes
  • Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department
  • Coordinate activities with junior engineers, especially through the change request process and check their work

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Thermal or Mechanical Engineering or similar related degree
  • 5 years of engineering product development or support experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater
  • Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and logically
  • Excellent planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills
  • Experience with sheet metal, piping and assemblies is a plus
