The Bing organization is looking for a Principal Data Scientist. The team is pushing the boundaries regarding our understanding for how users engage with search engines and then translates the insights into actionable metrics. These metrics then provide direction to the Bing team and help engineers make the right ship decisions for their thousands of online controlled experiments.

As a Principal Data Scientist in this team, you will have the chance to work on and deliver an improved A/B experimentation system for Bing, as well as metrics that drive the direction of major Bing initiatives. You will have the chance to be involved in the analysis and decision making for 1000s of online controlled A/B experiments. Come join us!
Responsibilities
- Inform future directions of Bing’s A/B experimentation platform, and drive improvements to it.
- Establish long-term A/B experimentation capabilities.
- Understand A/B online experiments, online user engagement and produce actionable, trustworthy conclusions.
- Develop strategies for understanding correlation between set of key Bing metrics and define overall ship decision criteria.
- Continuously improve measurement of the key metrics and update the metrics according to new instrumented signals.
- Develop tools to help analyze the movement of the metrics to help feature teams to understand why their changes impact the metrics.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in SQL-like query languages.
- Experience in design & problem-solving skills with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, C# or C++.
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with online A/B experimentation.
- Familiarity with large-scale online products, dealing with online instrumentation.
- Experience with large datasets and interest in consumer online search behaviors.
- Ability to work independently, influence others, and solid communication and collaboration skills.
Data Science IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
