The CT Technologist Aide provides ancillary support services under the supervision of licensed CT Technologists in accordance with established protocols and departmental policies/procedures. This position requires population-specific competencies and does not involve operating CT scanners: which remain the responsibility of licensed technologists. Responsibilities:

The CT Technologist Aide responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Prepares CT examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness, sterilizing surfaces, and setting up equipment as directed by licensed CT Technologists. 
  • Stocks linens, contrast agents, IV supplies, and other materials to maintain operation efficiency in CT suites. 
  • Assists with patient transport to and from CT suites, coordinating with other departments to minimize wait times. 
  • Supports patient positioning for CT procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed technologist, ensuring patient comfort and safety. 
  • Assists with starting intravenous (IV) lines for contrast administration, following strict protocols and under direct supervision of qualified personnel. 
  • Completes basic documentation, such as logging patient arrivals or procedure times, and provides reports to the supervising technologists after each patient interaction. 
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks in CT suites and patient areas. 
  • The CT Technologist Aide reports to the Lead CT Technologist.

  • Potential for exposure to infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, and chemicals. Must follow standard precautions, including radiation safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or coursework in healthcare related fields preferred. 
  • Preference given to candidates pursuing or planning to enroll in an accredited radiography program within 12-24 months, though not required, to support career progression. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., medical assistant, patient care technician, or imaging aide) preferred; prior experience in diagnostic imaging or high-acuity environments strongly preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff. 
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and basic patient monitoring; familiarity with imaging workflows or contrast administration protocols is a plus. 
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., supplies, assisting with patient transfers), and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills (e.g., IV starts, equipment adjustments).
