MBL Technologies is seeking an experienced Security Infrastructure Support Security Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural expertise for federal enterprise IT and cybersecurity operations. The Security Architect will design, implement, and maintain secure, hybrid IT infrastructures while ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks. The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with security tools, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership. 

This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Bethesda, MD area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, install, and maintain complex enterprise IT systems across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
  • Lead the implementation and administration of cybersecurity tools and SIEM platforms, ensuring integration across enterprise systems.
  • Apply cloud security best practices for AWS, Azure, and O365, including migration, hardening, and cost optimization.
  • Utilize DevSecOps principles to integrate secure coding, automated testing, and deployment pipelines into operational workflows.
  • Provide expertise in core virtualization technologies and infrastructure best practices for secure system deployment.
  • Develop scripts, particularly in Python, for automation of security tasks, tool integration, and process improvement.
  • Support the development of tools and processes that enhance security monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Maintain configuration standards and ensure consistent application of security controls across systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks and mandates, including FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, and CDM.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend security controls to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
  • Manage infrastructure components including Windows/Linux servers, network appliances, patching, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint security.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and advisor to engineering and operations teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to implement secure infrastructure solutions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and provide executive-level briefings on security architecture, risk, and operational posture.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, analyze, and address complex security issues with innovative and effective solutions.

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience architecting, designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise IT systems.
  • 5+ years of experience at the Senior Engineer level or higher.
  • 5+ years of experience implementing, configuring, and managing cybersecurity tools, including SIEM platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with hybrid infrastructure (on-premises and cloud).
  • Strong understanding of cloud security services and operations, including AWS, Azure, and O365.
  • Hands-on experience with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53/800-92, OMB M-21-31, CDM).
  • Proficiency in infrastructure management: Windows/Linux servers, patching, vulnerability remediation, network appliances, and endpoint security.
  • Strong scripting skills, particularly in Python, for automation and security tool development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with enterprise cloud migration and security hardening practices.
  • Proven experience mentoring technical staff and coordinating across teams and vendors.
  • Prior experience preparing technical documentation, reports, and executive briefings.
