MBL Technologies is seeking an experienced Security Infrastructure Support AWS Infrastructure and Cloud Security Subject-Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical leadership and operational support for secure cloud infrastructure in federal environments. The SME will architect, deploy, and manage AWS services while ensuring integration with on-premises systems, continuous monitoring, and compliance with federal cybersecurity standards. The ideal candidate combines deep cloud security expertise with hands-on infrastructure experience, strong leadership, and the ability to collaborate across multiple technical teams. 

This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Bethesda, MD area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, deploy, and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and other AWS security services.
  • Integrate AWS GovCloud or FedRAMP environments with on-premises security tools such as Splunk, Cribl, Archer, and other enterprise monitoring and compliance platforms.
  • Apply hybrid cloud security best practices, ensuring secure connectivity and operational integration with on-premises environments.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Lead efforts to optimize AWS resource utilization, including budgeting, cost analysis, reserved instance management, and rightsizing strategies.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security controls in alignment with federal standards including FISMA, NIST 800-53, and OMB M-21-31.
  • Integrate security scanning, continuous monitoring, and DevSecOps practices into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage cloud security operations, including log ingestion pipelines, threat detection, and compliance reporting.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including SOPs, architecture diagrams, compliance reports, and security procedures.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and SME for AWS and cloud security across infrastructure, security, DevOps, and application teams.
  • Coordinate and communicate with federal stakeholders, including the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and technical leadership, providing technical briefings and executive reporting.
  • Mentor and guide team members on cloud security best practices, automation, and compliance implementation.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure consistent implementation of cloud security standards and policies.

Required Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional preferred) or equivalent cloud platform experience.
  • At least one security certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty).
  • 8+ years of IT infrastructure and security operations experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience architecting, deploying, and managing AWS services.
  • Demonstrated expertise with hybrid cloud/on-premises integration, FedRAMP/AWS GovCloud environments, and cloud security monitoring.
  • Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and DevSecOps integration.
  • Strong understanding of federal compliance frameworks and continuous monitoring practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple teams and deliver cloud security solutions aligned with mission requirements.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

  • Prior experience in federal cloud environments and large-scale enterprise deployments.
  • Familiarity with cost optimization strategies for AWS and hybrid environments.
  • Hands-on experience developing technical architecture diagrams, SOPs, and compliance documentation.
  • Prior experience mentoring technical staff and guiding cross-functional teams.
