Ford Motor Company's Ford | Lincoln Service Reservation+ is transforming the automotive service experience for Ford and Lincoln customers and dealers. We're building innovative digital products and services that streamline appointments, enhance remote services, and create a seamless, customer-centric journey. We partner closely with Ford and Lincoln dealerships and various Dealer Management System (DMS) / Service Lane Tool providers. Our team is passionate about using a lean, human-centered approach to solve complex problems.

As a Software Engineering Senior Manager at Ford Motor Company, you will play a key role in transforming the Ford | Lincoln Service Reservation+ platform, enhancing the automotive service experience through cutting-edge digital products. Located in Dearborn, MI (hybrid), this position involves leading and developing engineering talent, executing a critical technical modernization plan from COTS to a modern tech stack, and establishing best practices for software delivery. You will ensure architectural integrity, drive innovation, and foster collaboration to deliver seamless, high-performance solutions."

Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week 

What You'Ll Do...

  • Technical Leadership: Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams (3-5), fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Lead tech modernization to transition from COTS to modern technology stack.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with External SaaS providers, product management, and design teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Engineering Excellence: Establish and promote best practices in software engineering, including Agile methodologies.
  • Talent Acquisition & Development: Recruit, onboard, and develop talented software engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Architecture & Design: Provide technical guidance and feedback on product designs and architectures, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in the engineering delivery pipeline, reducing cycle time and enhancing quality.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Craft and execute technical modernization plan to migrate to a modern tech stack without impacting business objective. Identify and resolve major technical roadblocks and risks, ensuring successful product delivery. 
  • Knowledge Sharing: Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across multiple product teams.
  • OKR Alignment: Partner with product leadership to establish and track key results aligned with business objectives.

You'Ll Have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience (web, mobile, API, or full-stack development). Additional technical skills will include:
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices (CI/CD, etc.).
  • Experience with building cloud native products on modern technology stacks (e.g., Java, Node.js, Reacjs).
  • 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams to include strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices (CI/CD, etc.).
  • Experience with building cloud native products on modern technology stacks (e.g., Java, Node.js, Reacjs).

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
  • Post-purchase customer experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience building and maintaining distributed, service-oriented systems.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
