Description
Atlanta Women's Healthcare Specialists is looking for a Phlebotomist with OB/GYN experience. Must have excellent venipuncture technique along with thorough tube knowledge and an understanding of the order of draw. Should be familiar with 16 weeks and 28 week drawing. Duties will also include taking care of the lab following proper protocol’s and procedures.
Preference given to candidates who possess the following skills: OBGYN experience, High volume drawing experience, EMRLink experience. Candidate will also be responsible for spinning the blood, tagging and bagging to send out to lab. Complete understanding of the order of the draw. Excellent venipuncture technique and the ability to successfully draw the hardest of patients.

Phlebotomist Responsibilities:
- Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.
- Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.
- Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.
- Extracting blood from patients through venipuncture or fingerstick.
- Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
- Preparing specimens for transportation, including labeling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.
- Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.
- Keeping and maintaining records of patient names, volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.
- Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
Phlebotomist Requirements:
- Current Phlebotomy Certification.
- Proven experience working as a Phlebotomist.
- Understanding of proper patient identification methods.
- Knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to drawing blood, handling specimen samples, and the use of relevant medical equipment.
- Experience using effective puncture techniques.
- Knowledge of testing protocols and the use of testing equipment.
- Superb dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
Education And Experience:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Clinical Laboratory Experience: 2 years (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy: 2 years (Preferred)
- OB/GYN Practice: 2 years (Preferred)
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of periods of standing and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds at times.
- Must have full range of body motion.
