Job Duties

Actively participate in the productive, effective and cost-efficient delivery of programs and services which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Department.

Position is responsible for the procurement and administration of contracts with commercial construction building materials, machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services in area of assignment for the Corrections Construction Unit (CCU). The position is responsible for monitoring contract administration, to oversee compliance issues and perform dispute resolution also to assist procurement personnel in all facets of the Va. State Procurement policies to include but not limited to the eVA (Virginia web-based procurement) procurement functions in procurement of goods and services. Assist unit administration assistants with other office functions as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge and experience with state and agency policies and procedures to include procurement. Experience evaluating bids, Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), and purchase orders for goods, services, and equipment. Must possess a working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and must have at least moderate computer and typing skills. Must demonstrate the ability to effectively follow oral and written instructions and managing multiple tasks. Must be able to communicate and deal effectively with vendors, agency personnel and institutional department heads.

Additional Considerations

Virginia Contracting certification (VCA, VCO, or higher) or other purchasing related certification. If individual does not have the VCA certification, the individual will be required to obtain the VCA within 1 year of being hired as a condition of employment.
