Job Title: Instructor of Respiratory Care - Grant Funded Position

Job Grade: 907

Campus Location: Walters State Community College - Sevier County Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: To provide instructional assistance to the Respiratory Therapy Program, function as a full-time faculty member, and actualize the goals/standards of the program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate and oversee all instructional and programmatic activities at the designated satellite site, ensuring student learning experiences are consistent and equivalent to those offered at the main campus.
  • Serve as a full-time faculty member by delivering an appropriate teaching load through traditional, hybrid, and computer-mediated instructional methods, incorporating established program curriculum, and engaging in collaborative teaching with faculty peers.
  • Support the Program Director in conducting annual program evaluations, accreditation reviews, and budget development processes.
  • Provide academic and professional guidance to students while maintaining effective communication with faculty, staff, and administration across the department, division, and college through both in-person and virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, and off-campus instructional responsibilities as required. 
  • Perform additional academic, administrative, and service-related duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the program and college.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an area of Respiratory Care or related field of study.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (Current RRT credential) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Holds current Tennessee license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and standard office equipment, various academic software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous teaching experience in Respiratory Care. As faculty or as a clinical instructor/preceptor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field of study.
  • Two (2) years teaching experience

Leadership & Supervisory:

  • Manage the operations of the Respiratory care program on the Sevierville campus.
  • Ensure that the educational experiences of students on the Sevierville campus are equivalent to those of the Niswonger campus (base program).
  • Assist with analysis and interpretation that helps build or manage the budget.
  • Maintain adequate, ongoing communication with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education
  • To serve in a leadership capacity to meet CoARC standards and divisional needs

Environment & Working Conditions: The office environment is temperature-controlled with occasional fluctuations.  May be exposed to varying conditions when traveling to various work locations.

  • Ability to travel by motor vehicle.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
