Job Summary: The Controller will report directly to the General Manager. The position will be responsible for directing and overseeing all accounting and finance functions applicable to the division.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including grain accounting, A/R, A/P, inventory, and cost accounting for manufacturing.
- Direct the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Monitor and reconcile financial performance, including margin projections vs. actual results, and provide variance analysis.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and gross margin analysis processes.
- Oversee capital expenditure accounting, including project costing, depreciation, and asset schedules.
- Provide financial analysis, contract audits, and pricing reports to support revenue managers, merchandisers, and feed-mill operations.
- Supervise and develop accounting and administrative staff, ensuring effective daily operations, training, and compliance with HR policies.
- Ensure strong internal controls across all business activities.
- Manage compliance with audits, tax authorities, licensing requirements, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee compliance with UCC/EFS liens on grain purchases.
- Support the General Manager and executive leadership with ad hoc reporting, projections, and business modeling for new opportunities.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or related business field
- Minimum 5 years of financial leadership and management experience
- Grain and feed industry knowledge or experience with mark-to-market accounting is strongly desired
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to communicate with management, team members, and support staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
- Ability to navigate an office environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
- Job may require occasional travel within the United States.
