Security and Alarm Technician

Description

This is a full-time, direct placement role at Premier Security Services.

Summary:

Performs and coordinates the maintenance and installation of building and/or home fire alarm systems, electronic premises security systems, and the alarm monitoring station for the customer. Leads, trains and coordinates the day-to-day work of technical staff and/or subcontractors. Interfaces with customers to ensure the highest grade of customer satisfaction. Performs associated administrative duties.

Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Consults with customers regarding their system needs
2. Coordinates, trains, leads and oversees activities of security and alarm tech crews
3. Installs and maintains fire, security, alarm and special systems
4. Programs and maintains equipment and systems including fire alarms, intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset protection, environmental detection, holdup/duress, integrated equipment and systems related to the alarm monitoring station
5. Upon completion of each job, maintain records of work performed with detailed note-taking
6. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects, including ladders, up to 25 pounds, as well as some standing or walking
• Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:

• Ability to install and perform routine maintenance and repairs of fire alarms, electronic premises security systems and alarm monitoring station operating software and equipment
• Ability to write reports containing technical information
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
• Ability to program alarm system panels
• Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
• Ability and willingness to learn and be trained on less-knowledgeable or new systems
