Job Summary:

Albers Aerospace is looking for a qualified Ground Support Equipment Worker in our Manila, Philippines location. The Ground Support Equipment Worker makes repairs to Ground Support Equipment (GSE) following orders of a higher-grade Mechanic. Reports to Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools, prepares GSE for storage and transportation, uses automated maintenance data systems to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains external fuel and grounding systems.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components.
  • Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories, stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications, stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations, operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles.
  • Maintains vehicle records, maintains and updates paper and electronic equipment records, provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, and practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
  • Position will be a flex of a 120 days on / 120 days off rotation.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Must be a High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have 2 years recent experience working on aircraft ground support equipment and/or appropriate training in functions such as Inspection maintenance, repair and modification of powered ground support equipment used in support of electronic systems or sub-systems.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security/SCI Security Clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Government Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required.
  • May be required to pass a U.S. Government background security check.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  •  Must be able to travel on CONUS/OCONUS deployments.
  • Employee must meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid flight-line Government Driver’s License.
  • For OCONUS deployments, must have valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.

  • Advanced knowledge of complex Crane systems.
  • Knowledge of Rigging/Lifting equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment and troubleshooting i.e., 220/440V.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • CONUS travel may be required from time to time.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, grasp or hold items and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, or smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.  Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
