Contract: Permanent, fulltime.

• Salary: £70,000 £80,000 per annum - dependant on experience.

About The Project

As the Assurance Lead – Electrical & Mechanical, you will work closely with the Assurance & Utilities Manager and the wider Site Operations team to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of construction and maintenance works. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of construction and maintenance activities for SZC-owned assets and infrastructure.
• Deputise for the Assurance & Utilities Manager, including attending key meetings and delivering team briefings.
• Coordinate daily construction and maintenance operations to meet project timelines.
• Oversee substation and cabling works on SZC’s private networks.
• Ensure high standards of safety and compliance with SZC values and procedures.
• Provide technical support for design and engineering activities.
• Manage teams of employees and contractors during engineering tasks.
• Act as a Control Person and Senior Authorised Person for planned and emergency works.
• Participate in standby rotas and respond to system faults, including during unsocial hours.

What You’Ll Bring

Essential:

• Proven experience with 400V to 11kV distribution systems.
• HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of HV systems and specialist HV equipment.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using Microsoft Office, MS Project, and other relevant software.
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work in different fast-paced environments
• Ability to identify problems, understand key issues and investigate alternatives.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with SZC processes and requirements.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
• Relevant safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
• National Grid BESC approval.
• Knowledge of HV SCADA systems.
• CSCS or CCNSG certification.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations
• Minimum 11kV Senior Authorised Person as defined by the E&M Safety Rules.
