US Social Media Video Editor

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised Social Media Video Editor to join our New York based Social Team and help run our new social media output across our US titles - Mirror US and Express US, and Liverpool.com.  

Responsible for creating, curating and distributing engaging video and social content for breaking news, events and feature stories across multiple platforms, you will serve as the primary contact for video coverage of key events that will drive page views and in turn hit social KPIs and revenue targets. 

This role will be based in our New York Hub so we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York.  You will be required to be flexible around evening and weekend shifts.

Job Description

Covering breaking news and producing timely, engaging content for multiple platforms, you will be identifying and developing stories that resonate with the audience, leveraging print, online and social media insights as well as monitoring competitor publications, news wires and social trends to inform content strategy. 

Duties and responsibilities will include curating, producing and editing video content; working closely with the newsroom on Facebook, Threads, Reddit and other social media accounts; writing, editing and optimizing content in alignment with SEO strategies and assisting with event coverage, including on-site shooting and live reporting.  

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have excellent editorial judgement and storytelling ability for both video and written content, and be confident on camera with the ability to conduct interviews.  

A strong understanding of social media trends, SEO and audience engagement strategies is key, as is a proven track record of managing social media channels and content posting.  

Sound legal knowledge and proficiency in video editing software and digital publishing platforms is a must, and a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media or a related field would be preferred.
