Job Description
As a QA & Compliance Intern at AbbVie, you will spend your summer engaged with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, gaining world-class experience within one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
You will support the R&D Quality Assurance & Compliance team, which develops, implements, and continually improves the AbbVie Quality System in R&D. The team ensures that clinical research and operations consistently meet regulatory requirements, internal standards, and ethical guidelines, thereby protecting patient safety, upholding data integrity, and supporting the reliable development and approval of products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently review complex clinical trial and regulatory documents for compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality requirements.
- Contribute to the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of quality processes and systems within R&D.
- Analyze quality metrics, interpret data trends, and prepare informative summaries or reports for the team and drive analytics and AI programs
- Take an active role in drafting, updating, and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs) with attention to regulatory context and process effectiveness.
- Participate directly in audit preparation, execution, and post-audit follow-up, including drafting sections of audit reports as appropriate.
- Lead or co-lead assigned projects or process improvement initiatives under supervision.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, and operational teams to advance quality and compliance objectives.
- Mentor or support undergraduate interns when applicable, sharing best practices and knowledge.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, computer sciences, life sciences (e.g., biology, biochemistry), bioengineering, biomedical engineering, public health, clinical research, regulatory affairs, biomedical sciences, nursing, health sciences, or other related degrees.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship
- Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed coursework in quality or compliance
