What You’Ll Do

In this role on AlixPartners’ Corporate Services team, you will be a key resource to the organization for technical accounting expertise and will be responsible for ensuring quality and timely global consolidated financial statement reporting.

The Financial Reporting Lead (Contract) position will be in Southfield, MI, and reports to the Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Director. This is an approximate six-month assignment. 

  • Manage the preparation of quality global consolidated financial statements and disclosures in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and coordination of statutory filing requirements for international locations.
  • Oversee the organization’s annual financial statement external audit process.
  • Enhance the organization’s structure, tools, and systems to operate as a technical accounting center of expertise, including serving as a resource to the organization for accounting expertise and support with complex and unusual transactions.
  • Plan for and supervise the accounting for complex technical accounting transactions, including stock-based compensation, hedging of interest rate swaps, acquisitions, and unconventional arrangements.
  • Research new accounting standards updates and understand the impact to the organization.
  • Coach and develop other members of the financial reporting team.

What You’Ll Need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with emphasis in accounting required.
  • CPA with minimum five (5) years’ experience, including 3+ years public accounting experience required (Big 4 or large regional firm required).
  • Extensive technical accounting experience and advanced analytical skills; ability to advise others on functional expertise.
  • Previous supervisory leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize team and workstreams effectively and embrace changing circumstances to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to execute and lead high quality and detailed work product.
  • Demonstrates professional discernment, including understanding individual limits, requesting additional resources when needed to resolve technical accounting issues or complete work product in a quality and timely manner.
  • Self-motivated; Initiates activities with drive, passion, and dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate and present persuasively with colleagues across multiple levels, functional areas and locations.
  • Experience with SAP S4 HANA a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
