The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of multiple divisions - the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services.

Job Description
Under direction, administer group and individual audiometric tests in public and parochial schools; administers individual tests in health department clinics and performs related duties as required.
Examples Of Duties:
- Administers various types of hearing screens (including pure tone audiometry and otoacoustic emissions screening) to school aged children (3 years+) to determine hearing acuity; Conducts induvial or group hearing screens at school sites. administers threshold screening to children, records and plots graphs of all threshold tests.
- Keeps statistics for each school, makes records for filing and for, reporting to other agencies; prepares monthly and annual reports. Records and reports all children whose tests indicate a need for follow-up in electronic health record system (EPIC).
- Provides care coordination and case management by conducting outreach to parents and healthcare providers, ensuring timely access to services for children and addressing barriers that may prevent families from receiving necessary care.
- Administers individual tests with children with special healthcare needs.
- Visits school principals; discusses dates and facilities available; checks rooms suggested for seating area and noise level.
- Transports equipment for testing from school to school; sterilizes instruments after use and repacks unit; takes equipment to ear center or to repair shop, when necessary.
The Audiometrist performs other related duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid School Audiometrist Certification issued by California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)
Desirable Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid California Driver License
- Experience in another clinical area serving students and families
